strafing is non existent, it all depends on how fast you move towards your opponent. For example, when you strafe left, some of the motion is placed into a different direction while almost half has been moved towards moving forward. Hence a reduction in the forward motion. The aim in strafing is to reduce the amount of hits your opponent can grasp, believe it or not you can strafe while walking forward. simply because your forward speed is roughly the same as the opponents knock-back. Also as you move forward your range is increased as the opponents decreases. Hence there is a sweat spot where one can hit and the other cannot.
Jitter clicking is a simple solution. Jitter clicking is maximizing how many hits you can deal, this can also be achieved by clicking at the perfect speed which in most cases is allocated by the server. It is not hard to meet this speed and even so it is hardly an advantage. If you want to discuss sword techniques the rod is what should be discussed. It can be used to control your opponent, set up combos and crits and most of all prevent your opponent from dealing a potential hit. simple as that. by the way, the bow doesnt require that much skill as you need to be the one to pull back first. if you get hit first. Run away. simple as that.
As a summary make sure you control the fight and prevent error.
