Thoughts on Steam Machines/SteamOS

I know the hype about the Xbox one and PlayStation 4 are pretty intense right now but what are your thoughts on the steam machine?

Would you but one when they come on sale?

I like the idea, steam on console, but I heard rumors of it costing like 700$.

I heard somewhere that it would be 400-500$ but thats still a lot.
