Random Server Lag

As the title describes I'm currently experiencing random server lag when playing, this entitles me running into a building then being teleported back (or having the illusion that I have been). In short I'm not experiencing FPS lag more internet lag I'm using my new Alienware laptop which aces all current games on max settings. If there's any solutions I'd be extremely grateful.

The servers do lag quiet a bit at times

Maybe try to update your Java, I used to lag A LOT. When I updated I almost never lagged and now, with optifine (another suggestion), I can play ALL maps with almost NO lag spikes.
